Water use

Water use

Avoiding water waste

New Zealand’s water demand sometimes exceeds supply. As well as conserving water for our own use, we need to maintain adequate water levels in rivers and lakes for flora and fauna.  It is costly to pump and treat water for residential and business use. Conserving water doesn’t only make sense environmentally – it could also save you money!

Examples of saving water include collecting rainwater to wash vehicles and for irrigation, and installing water meters.
