Environment Commissioner targets tourism

New Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment Simon Upton has announced that he will look into the impact of tourism on the environment.

The investigation, which will be initiated during the course of the year, will seek "to understand the claims the sector makes on the natural resource base and to examine the ways in which any impacts can be reduced or internalised."

Upston has previously signaled his support for a Zero Carbon Act and a independent Climate Commission along the lines of what exists in the UK.
